Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Omeger (omeger.com) is operated by [legal entity name to be confirmed] ("Omeger", "we", "us"). For any privacy question or request, write to support@omeger.com. Omeger is for adults 18 and older.
2. What we collect
- Account details (if you sign up): username, email address, gender, password (stored only as a one-way hash), plan and payment history.
- Connection and device details: your IP address, the country it points to, browser and device type (user agent), and a random visitor ID stored in a first-party cookie (
omg_vid). - Activity on Omeger: pages you open, where you came from (referrer or campaign), and in-app actions such as starting a chat, being matched, Next, Stop, call length, reports, and viewing pricing or checkout.
- Sign-in history: sign-ins, failed sign-ins, sign-ups and password resets, with IP address and user agent, to protect accounts.
- Reports: when someone reports a chat partner we store the reason, an optional note, a still image of the reported person's video, the time, and the IP address, visitor ID and account (if any) of both the person reporting and the person reported.
- Payments: payments are handled by Stripe. We receive the result and the amount, not your full card number.
We do not record or store your video, audio, or chat text. Video and audio go directly between the two browsers (peer-to-peer). When a direct connection is not possible they pass, encrypted, through our relay server, which does not store them.
3. Your chat partner can see your IP address
Because video chat is peer-to-peer, the other person's browser connects to yours and can technically see your IP address, which can reveal your approximate location and internet provider. A VPN hides your real IP address if this matters to you.
4. Why we use it
- To run the service: match people, keep you signed in, and process payments (performance of our agreement with you).
- To keep Omeger safe: review reports, block abusive people and addresses, prevent fraud and protect accounts (our legitimate interest in a safe service, and legal obligations).
- To understand and improve Omeger with our own first-party activity log (our legitimate interest). It is not shared with advertisers.
- For Google Analytics, only if you accept analytics (your consent, see section 5).
5. Analytics and cookies
Google Analytics 4 is off until you click "Accept" on the cookie banner. If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies
(_ga, _ga_*) and receives pages viewed, in-app events, your plan, a random visitor ID and, if you are signed in,
your account number (never your name or email). Google LLC processes this data in the United States. Advertising features are not used.
If you click "Reject", Google Analytics is never loaded. You can change your choice at any time with
Cookie settings.
Other cookies and browser storage we use:
laravel_sessionandXSRF-TOKEN: keep you signed in and protect forms (session).omg_vid: random visitor ID for our activity log, safety and report handling (up to 400 days).- Browser storage for your choices: analytics consent, theme, topic, gender and accepted terms.
6. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with: our hosting and server providers, Stripe (payments), Google (analytics, only with your consent), and authorities when the law requires it or to protect someone from harm. The person you chat with can see your username, country, video, and IP address as described above.
7. International transfers
Our servers and service providers may be located outside your country, including in the European Union, Canada and the United States (Google Analytics). When data leaves the EU or UK we rely on the safeguards the law provides, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
8. How long we keep it
- Activity log: full IP addresses are shortened after 30 days (the last part is removed); routine "still here" pings are deleted after 90 days; everything is deleted after 400 days.
- Sign-in history: IP addresses shortened after 90 days; deleted after 400 days.
- Server log files: 30 days.
- Reports and their images: as long as needed to review the report and enforce any block.
- Account details: while your account is open; removed within 30 days after the account is deleted, except records we must keep for a report, a payment, or a legal request.
- Google Analytics: according to the retention set in Google Analytics, no longer than 14 months.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected, and withdraw consent. Under the EU and UK GDPR you can also ask us to delete it, restrict or object to its use, or receive a copy in a portable format. In Canada (PIPEDA) you can access and correct your information and withdraw consent, and you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. In the EU or UK you can complain to your local data protection authority.
To make a request, email support@omeger.com from the address on your account, or tell us the date and time of your visit if you have no account. We answer within 30 days.
10. Visitors in the EU and UK
Analytics cookies are only used after you accept them, and rejecting is as easy as accepting. Strictly necessary cookies (session, form protection) and our safety records do not need consent.
11. Reports and blocks
A report can include a still image from a video chat so we can review abuse. We use reports to warn, suspend, or block an account or address. The community rules explain how Report and block work.
12. The Live counter
The header Live figure is an approximate count of people connected right now. When the room is quiet, the number stays low. It never shows 1000 or more. It is not a separate audience.
13. Changes
We will post any change on this page with a new date. If a change is significant we will tell you on the site.
Omeger is independent; not OmeTV / ome.tv.
